Forks over Knives – A Health Documentary

Forks over Knives (available free on Hulu and Netflix) explores the claim almost all degenerative diseases that afflict our society today can be controlled or reversed. The researchers in this film assert this can be accomplished by adopting a whole-foods, plant-based diet, and eliminating animal-based and processed foods.

The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. Throughout the film, cameras follow “reality patients” who have chronic conditions from heart disease to diabetes. Doctors teach these patients how to adopt a whole-foods plant-based diet as the primary approach to treat their ailments—while the challenges and triumphs of their journeys are revealed.

I also suggest checking out the FAQ on the official website.

This is the best (food/health)documentary V and I have seen, in terms of having credible experts and data to support their conclusions.  A part of the film that particularly affected me was an experiment that Dr. Campbell conducts where he is able to “turn on and turn off” the incidence of cancer and tumor growth in rats based on the amount of animal protein consumed. Isn’t that shocking?

After watching this film, and doing some personal research,  I have switched to a whole-foods, plant-based diet. However, I will eat meat on occasion, but it is usually seafood. I encourage you all to watch this, omnivore or not, if anything it will show you that your health is YOUR choice. You make that choice with what you decide to put into your body. I hope that you will find this documentary informative, and it INSPIRES you!
